Reflective Journal 3
1. After having delivered your persuasive speech, what concepts, principles, and skills in effective speech communication have been further imbibed within you? What proofs or evidence reflect the set of knowledge and skills you have learned, strengthened, improved or developed?
- Using power point presentations are very helpful concepts and showing examples such as videos and charts also are very helpful in delivering a speech. Such as Zach’s video on how android phones are better than iPhones and Chelsea’s tap water vs. bottled water presentations. They both used videos and that made their speeches a lot easier to follow and understand.
2. How valuable do you think are the skills you have gained in effective communication in your personal, academic, and career goals?
-Very valuable. I want to take a career in helping people through exercise. Me being able to persuade people to diet, eat healthy, exercise will all definitely come in handy. Whether it be by presenting them with interesting facts on the outcomes if they don’t eat right and diet or just telling them one on one, I think I am very much prepared to do so.
3. If you are to recommend some strategies for success in acquiring skills in effective speech communication from CAS100A class, what specific strategies would you recommend to a peer or fellow students?
- I would recommend getting background information about a topic and also using an example if they want to inform or persuade someone.
4. What of our course objectives do you believe have been met at this stage of your learning progress?
- Being able to be confident in front of a class. Improving my speech delivery as well.
5. Comments/Recommendations or Suggestions
- I have no suggestions but I will say that this course helped me develop speeches and present in front of the class a lot better.
